No Crafts?

Hi everyone! Sorry I don’t have an actual craft post for this week! I didn’t have time over the weekend to finish a craft I was working on for the post or find an in progress craft I have that I want to pick back up this week. Just want to take this opportunity to give a small blog post, but it is crafty!

Today I went to the Family Resource Network in my area because I am apart of a group that helps out with youth and kids. And we are doing a big project this month for nursing homes! Our task is to make thank you cards to all of the residents and special ones to the staff for working during the COVID-19 pandemic.

I am making 30 cards for the staff in my county and the county next to us. As well as, 70 for residents in nursing homes, where the cards are needed. So I need to make a total of 100 cards. Each card is going to have a small pictures drawn on each. I also got some stickers to put on them as well because, who doesn’t love stickers?

We need 600 cards total for all residents and staff by the end of this month. So, I am hoping to complete mine early so I can make some more! Each nursing home is also going to get variety crafts to give to each resident for them to do!

When I complete some of them I will make a post for it within the next few weeks! Have a good night and look forward to this weeks Witchy Wednesday post!

Blessed be! πŸŒ›πŸŒšπŸŒœ

Weekly Tarot 9/12/2020

This week I remember all tarot readings! Yay! So lets get straight to it, because this one is going to be a long one!

Sunday: Mother of Wands

Question asked: What should I focus on this week?

Main Focus:

Attractive, Domestic, Vibrant

Imagery:

The mother of wands contains a snake protecting her eggs with a wand in between them.

Meaning:

Family comes first to the mother of wands. She is a vibrant woman, as well as a happy mother and very protective of her family. With enough grace and beauty, you’d hardly notice her forceful nature. Being the dominant parent has made her very proud and determined of herself. Often times she has overcome great pain or trauma.

Mother of Wands

My take:

This week focus on being there for the person that represents the mother of swords. In my case the mother of swords is my mother, so that is easy and I will be there and help her in any way I can!

Monday: The Tower

Question asked: What should I focus on today?

The Tower

Main Focus:

Unexpected Upheaval

Imagery:

The tower shows a tree getting struck by lightning.

Meaning:

The card forsees a change that may feel like your world is falling apart. The phase might be painful and confusing, but it will be over soon. There might even be a personal breakthrough in the end!

My take:

Be on the look out for a change that will change your world and make you feel like everything is coming apart. But, know that it won’t last long, and you will survive.

Tuesday: Ten of Swords

Question asked: What should I focus on tonight?

Main Focus:

Ruin, Rock Bottom, Melodrama

Imagery:

The ten of swords contains a bull or ox impaled by ten swords.

Meaning:

The ten of swords appears when you’ve hit rock bottom, let others walk all over you while you play the victim.

Ten of Swords

My take:

Focus on not being the victim. If someone tries to walk over you, don’t let them and stand up for yourself.

Wednesday: Ace of Swords

Question asked: What should I worry about tonight?

Ace of Swords

Main Focus:

Truth, Mental Clarity

Imagery:

A single sword with a snake wrapped around it and lightning in the background.

Meaning:

The whole world seems to light for a second when lightning strikes. It is as though you can see everything, even through the storm. The power of the ace of swords is your mind will become clear and thoughts more pin pointed.

My take:

Some information will become brought into the light soon, which is something you might need to worry about. But, it might be enlightening and helpful and something to look forward to.

Thursday: Mother of Cups

Question asked: What should I worry about today?

Main Focus:

Insightful, Psychic

Imagery:

The mother of cups contains a swan with her win spread over a cup.

Meaning:

The mother of cups has psychic abilities that rivals the High Priestess. She is a tranquil and gentle woman with insights that brings healing to those around her. Thrives when amidst her family, the arts, and through music or beauty of any kind. She will become defensive and aggressive if pushed

Mother of Cups

My take:

Worry about someone in your life that is similar to the Mother of Cups and protect them and check on them. In my case it was my boyfriend’s sister that I should be worrying about. She got into a car accident the same night I was having a bad feeling and did a reading for this post on what I should worry about!

Friday: The Sun

Question asked: What should be my focus today?

The Sun

Main Focus:

Vitality, Enlightenment

Imagery:

The Sun card shows light and doves.

Meaning:

The sun card brings amazing energy into your life that feels nourishing and like it is healing all your aches and pains. You feel assurance and clarity in all you do with vitality and health abound. Spend extra time outside and be grateful of the radiance from the sun!

My take:

Focus on the light the sun brings. Good health and vitality are near in the future and be grateful for that.

Saturday: Father of Cups

Question asked: What should I look forward to today?

Main Focus:

Diplomatic, Open-minded

Imagery:

The Father of Cups is a black swan alone on the water.

Meaning:

The Father of Cups is the most feminine of all the father within the tarot. He has a unique a dynamic personality and is often a patron of the arts. He supports his family and the community. The only thing that holds him back are his deeply rooted insecurities which are vast and affect his personality in unpredictable ways.

Father of Cups

My take:

Look forward to this person that represents the Father of Cups to support you and be there for you.

I hope you all enjoyed this full-week tarot post! Look forward to posting another next week! See you all next week!

Intro into Tarot

My first tarot deck, which is currently my only tarot deck, is by Kim Krans. It contains a tarot guidebook that is easy to read and the deck. The deck has beautiful artwork, as you can see from my tarot readings I show weekly! There are multiple different things you should know first before getting into the world of tarot.

My Tarot Deck and Guidebook.

Major and Minor Arcana

Major Aracana

The major arcana are powerful cards and should never be taken lightly. There are a total of twenty-three major arcana, and each one can dive into our psyche and identify or indicate deeply rooted problems.

There are themes, characters, or actions that might block us and hold us back, or they can set us free. The Major arcana can make up these objects and help interpret what they mean and what to look out for.

Minor Aracana

The minor arcana consist of fourteen cards for each of the four suits (wands, cups, swords, and pentacles, which will be discussed later). The last four of the fourteen are often an actual person represented in out lives.

These cards bring context to the Major arcana, as well as a complexity and depth that the Major arcana can’t provide. Each suit has it’s own characteristics as well to help identify what goes on in the card.

Card Suits

Wands
Ace of Wands

Related to our ambition, goals, and dreams that mark the beginning of all ventures between mind and spirit. Wand cards represent the element of fire, creativity, and inspiration. Many wands in a reading indicates a situation not in the eternal and physical world, but only in the mind and spirit.

Swords
Ace of Swords

Suit of action and intellect, which point to constructive and destructive tendencies within us. The swords are ruled by air and address change, conflict, and power. Any reading dominated by swords indicates a situation of turmoil and distress.

Cups
Ace of Cups

Ruled by the element of water and the suit of emotion. Cup cards address our connections and relationships, see the quality of them. Do they speak of love, friendship, or of anything in between? Several cups indicates situations that involves that heart and emotions.

Pentacles
Ace of Pentacles

Often speaking to issues involving our personal lives and worldly possessions (home, money, career). The pentacles reflect upon the greed and generosity we give to others. Ruled by the earth element. When many in a reading, the focus is on material things.

Energies

When you do a reading, there is a certain energy the cards will pick up from around the room. I like to use a cloth under the deck to help focus the readings a little more. This is still something I am learning a little, so bare with me. I might end up making a separate post about this later on and talk about just energies, but for now I will give you what I know off of experience and from talking to others.

Anyways, this is what I have experienced. Any time I have done a yearly reading for myself only 20-30% of the reading has been correct. But, anytime I have done any reading for ANYONE else, it has ALWAYS been 80-100% correct. The once a day ones for me are sometimes right and are helpful for learning for just my personal ones. But any time I do a reading for anyone else, it is majorly correct.

I feel like if there are other energies in the room at the time and I’m not fully focused on just my reading, that might be why mine isn’t going correctly. But, I just wanted to share this little bit because I thought it was a little interesting.

I hope you all enjoyed this weeks Witchy Wednesday! In the near future I will go into detail about different tarot layouts after getting confirmation that I can use readings I completed on my family members. I will also do some more research on energies.

Next week though! Look out for a special post of something I am learning on the side of witchcraft that I want to incorporate into my craft.

Blessed be! πŸŒ›πŸŒšπŸŒœ

September Craft Haul

I know I just did a craft haul recently, but my mom and I were having a girls day and stopped at hobby Lobby and well….I may have got more crafts! Everything I got I am going to use in the near future for either fall crafts or to get a head start on Christmas gifts.

Everything from the Craft Haul!

As you can see I got a variety of different objects/crafts from this haul. Below I go into a little more detail into what each craft I am planning, so you know what to look forward to!

Paint and new brushes!

I’m constantly running low on paints, so I got some larger ones this haul as well as some new brushes (because let’s be honest, you can never have too many brushes).

Tumbler turner and tumblers!

I’m not too familiar with decorating tumblers, but I wanted to invest into a tumbler spinner/turner to create homemade gifts for family and friends! So I saw one and figured heck, why not!? I also got two practice tumblers to start!

I might need to get a sealer for the paint after putting it on the tumbler. Maybe also some spray paint? I’m not sure! I just know I am excited to try something new!

Glass jars!

My mom and I love to drink tea, especially if we are sick and not feeling too well. So we got some jars to hold tea bags or loose tea! I’m going to put some vinyl on the jars as labels for the tea as well!

Wooden Signs!

I thought that these wooden boards would be great as signs! The more rectangular one I am going to use to make a fall sign. The fancy, wavy one I am going to make a Christmasy or Holiday sign.

Macrame Kits!

My working from home office walls are really boring, and I saw these recently online (not these exact ones) and I thought it would be cool to get a few and hang them on the walls around my desk! Also, fun fact, my grandfather used to create macrame crafts and once made my grandma a necklace by doing macrame!

I’m really excited for these new crafts and I am going to start working on one of the macrame kits this week! Hopefully I will finish one or both for next weeks post! We shall see!

Blessed be! πŸŒ›πŸŒšπŸŒœ

Weekly Tarot 9/5/2020

Few announcements!

Sorry for missing this post yesterday! I was busy most of the day and didn’t have time to make a post. I also missed 3 tarot days because I was sick and didn’t want to touch my tarot deck (hence why there wasn’t a Witchy Wednesday post last week). The tarot post for Witchy Wednesday will be this week! So be sure to keep an eye out for it! Now! Onto my readings for the week.

Sunday: Eight of Wands

Question asked: What should I focus on this week?

Main Focus:

Sudden movement or change

Imagery:

The eight of wands contains eight wands in a circle, with one being lit up and struck by lightning.

Meaning:

It is a card of news, change, or clarity. Might receive some surprising news or hear from an old friend. Sometimes means literal movement is on the horizon.

Eight of Wands

My take:

This week focus on staying my course, but be on the lookout for something that may change it.

Monday: Three of Cups

Question asked: What do I need to focus on tonight?

Three of Cups

Main Focus:

Friendship, joy, bounty

Imagery:

The three of cups contains birds perched on a branch looking at the sunset together.

Meaning:

Foresees creating memories in the company of friends that you have a strong connection with. This card may also indicate an upcoming celebration.

My take:

Focus on creating memories with my close friends and family that I have a strong connection with. Hold all the memories dear and enjoy their company. Also, look for something to celebrate in the near future!

Tuesday: Son of Swords

Question asked: What do I need to worry about today?

Main Focus:

Forceful, determined

Imagery:

The son of swords contains an own diving while holding a sword.

Meaning:

The son of swords is dynamic creature, a man of action, not of grace. Pushes forward toward his goal with urgency and determination. He usually seeks approval from the Father of Swords who casts a shadow onto the son. Working with this young man can prove to be a challenge.

Son of Swords

My take:

Worry about someone being forceful and determined with their actions and desires. And be on the lookout for them in the future.

Saturday: The Moon

Question asked: What do I need to focus on today?

The Moon

Main Focus:

Vivid dreams and fears

Imagery:

The moon card shows the moon in the sky and darkness around it with some trees.

Meaning:

In many ways, this moon card can symbolize the Wild Unknown. It is the shadow realm where dreams, fears, and mysteries are born. A lot of darkness lives here which can lead to periods of anxiety and self-doubt if you aren’t careful.

My take:

Focus on your mental health. If any fears and anxiety arise, try and calm down and push away the darkness.

Again, sorry for missing posting this yesterday and missing three readings. I didn’t want to contaminate the cards or mess with the energy in them. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Blessed be! πŸŒ›πŸŒšπŸŒœ

The Struggle with Vinyl

Good evening! I was hoping to share a successful finished project with my experiences with vinyl, but alas, crafting can still have it’s difficulties. So this post I will share how to work with vinyl and show the struggles I’ve had with it tonight.

How to Work with Vinyl!

Tools you will need:

  • Cricut
  • Cricut Design Space software
  • Something to cut your vinyl to size
  • Cricut light weight mat (the light blue one!)
  • Vinyl
  • Hook tool
  • Exacto Knife (optional)

I also had a rolling tool in the below picture, but I ended up not using it because of the difficulties I had with the vinyl.

My tools

First, start off in the Cricut app (or software if you are using a computer) and add what you want to cut in the canvas.

My canvas (I regret this font later)

Next, select the “Make It” in the bottom left corner, cut the vinyl to size, and place it on the Cricut mat at the top (similar to below).

Setting up the mat.

Make sure the dial is set to “Vinyl” and select the “Continue” button on the app or software. Push the mat to the rollers and push the double arrow button shown on the Cricut to let the rollers take the mat. After that, select the fancy “C” to begin cutting your vinyl!

Setting the mat into the Cricut.

It might take a little for your design to cut, depending on how detailed it is. So while it is cutting make sure to grab some tea or eat a snack!

The Struggle Begins

I started to remove the extra vinyl very carefully with the hook tool.

Carefully….

It was going well, I had a few mess ups and decided to use an exacto knife to help me section off areas so it will be a little easier.

Progress!

I started to feel very confident of this, but then letters kept getting picked up by the extra vinyl I was holding and words kept getting messed up. So I eventually decided to scrap the project and make this a learning opportunity.

This is where I gave up…

Vinyl can be very tricky to work with, and there will be mistakes, but the final product will be worth it! Later this week I will try again, but with a different font and hopefully can share my final project in next weeks post!

Blessed be! πŸŒ›πŸŒšπŸŒœ

Site Changes!

Hi everyone! The blog site has undergone some changes this weekend! Have you seen last nights post yet? You might have noticed one of the many changes just by looking at that post!

First things first, I upgraded to a paid domain! This site will now be known as witch-crafty.com! There are many reasons why I upgraded, one of them being to make the site feel more personal, and another so I can post videos of some digital drawings! They won’t have sound at first since they are just some small time-lapses of the drawing being creating (and since the only ones I have so far are under 3 minutes). But! Not the point! Cool new stuff!

Second, I got really distracted yesterday making banners and a new logo for the site, so yesterday’s post was a little later that I would have liked it to be. Below you can see a gallery of all the banners you will see throughout the site for blog pages and posts that I want to have a featured image, but I don’t know what one to use because there are multiple (or because I couldn’t figure out what to take a picture of). These banners are made by me, and might change later on, but right now I wanted the site to have a clean and unified look. Let me know what you think!

Also! Check out the new logo up close and a video time-lapse of the drawing process!

New logo time-lapse!

I have a few digital art time-lapses I am looking forward to sharing on Crafty Monday’s in the following weeks. If anyone has any suggestions for any crafts or drawings, feel free to leave them in the comments! Thanks for reading!

Weekly Tarot 8/29/2020

Sorry for the late post! I got distracted making a new logo and some banners for the site! This week I was only able to do 2 readings, I had to go out of town for some family stuff and forgot my tarot deck at home. But, I will still share those 2 readings this week and have a full post next week of all my daily readings!

Sunday: The Hierophant

Question asked: What should I focus on this week?

Main Focus:

Mentor, seeking knowledge

Imagery:

The hierophant contains a crow carrying a key or sitting perched on a key during a storm.

Meaning:

It is time to deepen your practice, you have come far on you’re own, but open your heart and a teacher will soon appear. A new ceremony or ritual may prove to be comforting and rewarding.

The Hierophant

My take:

This week focus on knowledge and learning the practice. If I am open and searching, I may find a teacher or mentor that can help guide me through what my current focus is.

Monday: The Six of Cups

Question asked: What do I need to worry about today?

The Six of Cups

Main Focus:

Memories, childhood, joy

Imagery:

The six of cups contains a tree with it’s roots in multiple different colors.

Meaning:

Focuses on the magic and innocence of childhood. Look back on your roots with vibrancy and color, get lost in your memories. Old friends may reach out, any reunion will be joyful. Enjoy simple pleasure and wonder in all areas of you life.

My take:

Childhood memories may resurface, good or bad. Focus on the joy and light of the childhood memories and not worry about the dark that was haunting behind. Don’t be afraid to look back on those memories and get lost in them.

Again, I am sorry for the short list of readings this week! But I look forward to posting a long one for next week’s weekly readings!

Blessed be! πŸŒ›πŸŒšπŸŒœ

Witchy Wednesday 8/26/2020

Hi all, for this witchy post I would like to share books that I am reading, or going to read to learn my path and help guide me on solitary path.

Read/Reading

Wicca by Scott Cunningham

Living Wicca by Scott Cunningham

Wicca by Scott Cunningham was the first book I ever read on Wicca after deciding I wanted to learn more about the practice. In my opinion, this is one of the best books on Wicca for a beginner, or for someone who just wants to know more about the craft. For a more in depth guide I would suggest Living Wicca by Scott Cunningham. I haven’t personally gotten the chance to finish reading this book, but it is known to have great reviews and would be a great book to pick up after Wicca.

To Ride A Silver Broomstick by Silver Ravenwolf

This is a book that I am currently reading. I skimmed through the table of contents section and saw many different sections including a different paths for the practice. After I complete my reading for this book, I will give a better review for it. But, overall, I do recommend grabbing a copy of it to have after or before reading Cunningham.

Want to Read

Solitary Witch: The Ultimate Book of Shadows for the New Generation by Silver Ravenwolf
The Green Witch: Your Complete Guide to the Natural Magic of Herbs, Flowers, Essential Oils, and More by Arin Murphy-Hiscock

If anyone has any other recommendations feel free to leave a comment! I would love to check out any recommendations my followers may have!

Next week on Witchy Wednesday I plan to talk tarot, so be prepared! It is going to be a little more of a relaxing post, so if you aren’t that into witchcraft you might want to check it out too!

Blessed be! πŸŒ›πŸŒšπŸŒœ
